- In
2003-04, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) field-tested Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) test items in
grades 4, 6, and 7 during the statewide testing window. Therefore, TUSD did not administer a Core
Curriculum Standards Assessment (CCSA) test to students in those grades. The ADE did not publish results from the
field test, so there are no Standards-Based test scores to report for grades 4, 6, and 7 in 2003-04.
In 2004-05, AIMS scores will be reported for third through eighth grade, as well as for high school
students who are required to pass the AIMS as a graduation requirement. TUSD will continue to administer CCSA tests
in grades 1, 2, and 9. Kindergarten CCSA scores have been retroactively added to the site for the years 2001-02 through 2003-04. These scores are included in the
school total but are not currently displayed in the grade-level table in the PDF version of the profile. This will be corrected in the 2004-05 School Profile as part of a complete reformating of the report.
- The
performance standards (often referred to as cuts) for the Writing portion of
the CCSA have not yet been set and are therefore not available for reporting at
this time.
- The
attendance figures reported by TUSDs Department of Accountability and Research
were revised over the summer of 2004. Modifications were made to the attendance calculation so that the results
better match the official figures reported by the ADE. Because the new attendance calculation
employs slightly different rounding rules and includes pre-school students for
the first time, some schools saw a change from the attendance rates previously reported.
While pre-school attendance is now included in the overall school attendance rates (where applicable),
the current PDF version of the School Profile is unable to report the pre-school grade-level attendance
rate. When the School Profiles are redesigned in 2004-05 to accommodate the changes in statewide testing, a pre-school line will be
added to the attendance table in the PDF file. However, full grade-level attendance data is available elsewhere on this site.
- The
data source used to calculate promotion rate has changed. In order to match statistics published by the
ADE, Accountability and Research now computes the promotion rate from year-end
status data reported electronically to the State in the Year-End Enrollment
Report.
- Cost per pupil data is provided by TUSDs
Technology and Telecommunication Services PeopleSoft group.
- The data source used to calculate the average
number of years of teacher service has been changed. In order to match statistics published by the
ADE, Accountability and Research now computes average years of services from
the data reported electronically to the State in the School District Employee
Report (SDER).
- The Average Student/Teacher Contact statistic was revised
slightly. New classrooms created during the first few weeks of school (to relieve
overcrowding in other classrooms) were artificially reducing the average
student/teacher contact for a number of schools. The Student/Teacher Contact calculation was
adjusted to properly weight the shorter term for those classes. Because of this adjustment, some schools will
see an increase in their average Student/Teacher Contact.
