Terra Nova is a state mandated assessment that tests students on Reading, Language, and Math. It is currently given to grades 2 - 9. Unlike the AIMS and CCSA, it is a norm-referenced rather than a criterion-referenced test. This means that student are scored relative to national norms, and that the "average" student will be at 50. Performance is reported as as either percentile rank or NCE (Normal Curve Equivalent).
